BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) - - The Department of Agriculture (DA), in partnership with the local government unit of Dupax del Norte, will be putting up a poultry farm to boost the production of free-range chicken for commercial consumption.

Dr. Bryan Sibayan, DA Cagayan Valley Livestock Program Coordinator, said that the construction of Animal Housing, Poultry (Free Range Chicken) Multiplier Farm will be done at the  Saint Joseph Parish Multi-Purpose Cooperative (SJPMPC) in Barangay Belance in Dupax del Norte town.

He said that the groundbreaking for the P2-million  facility funded under the Livestock Economic Enterprise Development (LEED) Project has been conducted recently, which was attended by LGU, cooperative and DA  officials.

“The main focus of this livelihood enterprise project is to increase poultry production, at the same time, improve poultry raisers’ productivity while also ensuring that their products will be made available, accessible, and affordable to consumers,” Sibayan said.

The MLGU and PLGU representatives and officials also expressed their appreciation for the project as it will boost the supply of poultry and augment the income of cooperative members in the upland municipality. (JKC/BME/PIA NVizcaya)
