ILIGAN CITY (PIA)--The city government here and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation of Iligan, Inc. together with various government agencies kicked off the celebration of Business Month.
Through the Sangguniang Panlungsod Resolution No. 11-715, October is considered to be a Business Month in the city.
“It seeks to strengthen the business community. We are also promoting Iligan City as the new destination of Mindanao. We are very happy kay daghan kaayo ta ug partners nga nagtabang [because a lot of our partners helped.],” said Reggie Punongbayan, President of Iligan Chamber.
Some of the lined-up activities for the month include Food Safety and Halal Awareness Forum, Financing Forum, Agri-Trade Fair, Business Forum, and Farmer’s Summit, among others.
The Executive Management Board (EMB) of the Business Month will also award the best performing businesses in the city. These awards include Best Boutique Shop, Best Restaurant, Best Massage Spa, Best Coffee Shop, Best Tea House, Best Hotel, Best Resort, Best Homestay Accommodation, Best Agro-tourism destination, Outstanding Farmer of the Year, Best Skilled Worker, Biggest Tax Payer, and Best Street Vendor of the Year.
Some of the agencies supporting the said activity are the Department of Science and Technology, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Information and Communications Technology, Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology, Center for Digital Iligan, Innovation and Sustainability.
