ILIGAN CITY (PIA)--The local government unit (LGU) Kauswagan highlighted its best practices and strategies for water quality management and water protection during the public consultation on October 4 for the designation of Iligan bay as Water Quality Management Area organized by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources - Environmental Management Bureau.
Felisa Ritsel Alivio of the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office of LGU Kauswagan shared that there is a weekly coastal clean-up organized by the LGU together with the Philippine National Police, GNPower Kauswagan Ltd. Co., and other stakeholders.
Alivio said the LGU has strict policies in terms of collecting segregated wastes from the household. She also emphasized that there are no harmful agricultural wastes as they practice organic farming.
“Aside from organic farming we are promoting a biodynamic way of farming. So walay byproducts nga makadaot sa atong kinaiyahan because we are 101% organic,” said Alivio.
