2 Ifugao towns celebrate Tourism Week

LAGAWE, Ifugao (PIA)--In efforts to boost tourism amidst the pandemic, the municipalities of Alfonso Lista and Lamut celebrated Tourism Week showcasing local products, food, and tourist spots.   


In Alfonso Lista, indigenous cooking presentations, agri and local products, and mini food fair Lokal Kulinarya were conducted at the Municipal Gymnasium in Sta. Maria. The cooling contest showcased the cooking prowess of the different indigenous people’s communities of the municipality.


The municipality has locally institutionalized the Tourism Week celebration through Municipal Ordinance No. 2021-157.

Meanwhile, Lamut Tourism Office organized its first-ever Tourism Week with the theme "Experiencing and Rediscovering Lamut" which aims to promote and rediscover the municipality through food, culture, recreation, and sports.


Gastro-horticultural trade fair, mural painting, fun hike, community tilapia grilling, paramotor and paragliding exhibition, and launching of pasalubong and tourism showroom were among the activities conducted.


Activities were also held in the tourist spots in the municipality such a Dar-Awan Viewpoint, Matangili Rock Formation, and the Tourism Village.


Municipal Tourism Operations Officer Harvey Gumayon explained that part of the celebration is the promotion of local products, organic produce, One Town One Product (OTOP) of the municipality, its barangays, and other nearby municipalities in Ifugao through the trade fair, pasalubong center, and the organic trading post.
