CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) – The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Mimaropa recently distributed the first tranche of its fuel subsidy cards to seven registered fisherfolks in the town of Baco.
BFAR representative Emmanuel Perez handed over to the beneficiaries the fuel subsidy cards with a load of P3,000 each which are readily redeemable from the partner gas stations of BFAR in the province.
Perez said that there are 250 fisherfolk-beneficiaries that are listed for the second tranche of BFAR's fuel subsidy.
Perez emphasized that in order to avail such subsidy, a fisherfolk must be registered to Municipal FishR and BoatR. These two programs of BFAR were designed to enhance, fast track and complete the Municipal Fisherfolk Registry of coastal LGUs nationwide as well as to expedite and complete the registration of fishing vessels.
“The fuel subsidy is a fund from the Special Provision No. 2 of General Appropriation Act 2022 which mandates the Department of Agriculture to provide subsidies to farmers and fisherfolk,” Perez said.
Mayor Allan A. Roldan thanked BFAR for the provision of subsidies to his constituents and looks forward to more assistance to the fisherfolks for their recovery from more than two years of the pandemic. (LTC/PIA-OrMin)
