25 Mallig residents finish rags, bag weaving training

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) - - At least 25 residents of Olango and Bimonton in the town of Mallig recently completed rags and bags weaving training jointly conducted by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) - Isabela, National Irrigation Administration (NIA) - Isabela and Isabela State University (ISU) - San Mateo Campus.

The training aims to provide skills to the residents of the two barangays in Mallig and to provide them with livelihood opportunities and income.

The 25 trainees have undergone lectures and hands on training on eco bags sewing and rags weaving for a duration of two days.

Olango Barangay Captain Carlito Antonio expressed his gratitude to DTI, NIA and ISU San Mateo for providing skills training which will be helpful to the trainees to earn income.

Meanwhile, DTI Junio Business Counselor Kristine Joy Agriam made a lecture on how to improve eco bag making and rags weaving to make the product more salable.

Agriam also urged the trainees to continue there chosen livelihood and know how to market their produced finish products.

After the training, the participants received supplies and sewing equipment to be used in rag weaving and eco bag making. (MGE  PIA Isabela)
