DPWH-QDEO to complete Dissimungal road repair before All Saints Day

CABARROGUIS, Quirino (PIA) - - The Department of Public Works and Highways-Quirino District Engineering Office (DPWH-QDEO) has reported that the road closure along Cordon-Aurora Boundary Road (Junction Dumabato-Aurora Bdry) K0402+727-K0402+818, Dissimungal, Nagtipunan is expected to last until the All-Saints Day.

In his report during the Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment (PDRA) for Tropical Depression Maymay, DPWH-QDEO Maintenance Section Chief, Engr. Ferdinand Yting said that motorists are temporarily re-routed to the Aurora-Castaneda-Maria Aurora-San Luis (ACMASAL) Road.

During the PDRA meeting for Tropical Depression Maymay, Engr. Ferdinand Yting advises the motorist to take safety precaution by traveling to the designated alternate route.

Engr. Yting said that excavation will start from morning up to 12:00 noon and during 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm, road clearing will take place and the said road will temporarily be opened during 3:00 in the afternoon for light vehicles only.

“If travel is a must, the motorists are advised to take extra precaution while traversing the road due to the existence of falling debris or loosened soil or soft rocks.

It can be recalled that the DPWH-QDEO has reported on October 3, 2022 that continuous rainfall has impacted the Quirino-Aurora provincial boundary resulting to the undermining of roads caused by major landslides along Cordon-Aurora Boundary Road (Junction Dumabato-Aurora Bdry) K0402+727-K0402+818, Dissimungal, Nagtipunan.

Engr. Yting said that 18,000 cubic meters of soil is expected to be excavated or removed from the left side of the slope, some of which are to be filled in on the road slip that occurred at the right portion the road.

“Our maintenance crew had already installed additional signage to advise the public of the scheme and we already coordinated with the Local Government Unit of Nagtipunan and the Philippine National Police to strictly impose order from the DPWH-QDEO to travelers and provide assistance to motorists,” Yting added.
