KALIBO, Aklan (PIA) -- Governor Jose Enrique Miraflores of Aklan cited in his first 100 days in office report, October 12, several successful agricultural infrastructure projects to ensure food sufficiency for Aklanons
In his report, he emphasized the gains made by the province through the support of the nationally-implemented Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) funded by the World Bank (WB), which he said Aklan is a proud partner.

“Already in its mid-term implementation, a number of successful projects such as farm-to-market roads, abaca nurseries and trading center, chicken restocking, oyster and mussel production and coco oil mill have been completed boosting agro-industrial development in the countryside,” Miraflores said.
He revealed that recently, the provincial government of Aklan became the sole awardee of the Certificate of Recognition for the Good Convergence Practices by the WB and the Department of Agriculture – Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP) for the successful implementation of its rural development projects.
There are also projects lined up for implementation which include the rehabilitation of roads and bridges in Libacao, Batan and Madalag and construction of a fishport in Batan.
He said these projects will be complementing the regular projects of the Provincial Engineering Office (PEO) on roads and bridges including farm to market roads, multi-purpose buildings, and water systems.
“All of these are in support of our slogan "Pagkaing Sapat Para Sa Lahat, Aklan Aangat,” he stressed.
Miraflores delivered his report at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Session Hall, attended by mayors of Aklan’s 17 towns, Sangguniang Panlalawigan members, department heads of the Provincial Government, stakeholders, and the media. (JBG/VGV/PIA6 Aklan)
