NAGA CITY, Camarines Sur (PIA) – The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Regional Office 5 awarded 25 units of 22-footers fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) boats with complete accessories and marine engines to fisherfolk beneficiaries over this province on October 10.
The FRP boat donations also come with 22 sets of fishing gears.
The turn-over activity is part of BFAR’s FB Pagbabago Livelihood and Development Program which aims to improve the fisherfolk’s socio-economic status through disaster-resilient and climate-proof fishing boats and gears, and contribute in fisheries production of the province.
"Nagpapasalamat po ako sa BFAR sa tinaong baruto ta makakatabang po ini sa pagpapaklase ko kan sakuyang mga aki. May magagamit na po ako sa pang aro-aldaw na pag hanapbuhay saka dai ko na kaipohan magpara sagwan," Daniel Milante, one of the recipients from San Lucas, Calabanga, said.
"Dakulang pasasalamat po sa BFAR sa pagtao nin banca para sa mga parasira lalo na sa Calabanga, lugod po na makatabang ini sa pag hanapbuhay ninda. Sana magpadagos pa ang programa kan BFAR na arog kaini para mas matabangan pa ang mga parasira. Ang LGU man po pirming yaon para suportahan ang mga parasira," Jerome Evangelista one of the beneficiaries from Calabanga said.
Representing BFAR 5 Regional Director, Chief of Finance and Admin Division Nelson B. Bien delivered a message of insipiration before the fisherfolk communities during the event.
The Team of Fisheries Production and Support Services Division headed by Nilo B. Consuelo, Provincial Fisheries Office of Camarines Sur, Jerlinda A. Cruz and staff and representatives from Local Government Units were also present during the awarding ceremony. (PIA5/Camarines Sur)
