Pagadian City gov't to buy vacant lots for the construction of buildings

PAGADIAN CITY, Oct. 17 (PIA)- The Pagadian City government will try its best to purchase more vacant lots to construct buildings in the city, Mayor Samuel Co told home developers, real state professionals and builders and stakeholders during the Housing Fair hosted by the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) held recently at the City Commercial Center (C3) here.

Co said one of the priority programs of his administration is the construction of buildings in the city and this will only be realized if the national government agencies will help.

"I strongly believe that the city government's plan to build buildings will be realized with the help of DHSUD, Pag-IBIG, and the National Housing Authority (NHA). Our LGU needs their expertise so that they can support us on what should be done," he said.

He added that it is up to the people if they do not pay for the lot, the important thing is that they pay the cost of the building.

"The city government is dedicated in its program to build buildings, which is why we have established a Housing and Land Management Division that will focus on it so that we can fulfill our dream for the people of the city to have a home."

He also said he can measure the success of the city government if all the constituents of Pagadian will already have a decent home.

Meanwhile, DHSUD OIC-Regional Director Roland Eta lauded the local executive for his commitment to develop more housing in the city where he supported the 'Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino' program implemented by the national government.

"DHSUD is happy with Mayor Co's plan to produce as many as 3,000 houses in the site of regional center to address housing needs of the different regional employees who moved to Pagadian City," Eta announced.

Eta added in celebration of the National Shelter Month this October, the key shelter agencies together with the registered real state developers in the entire Zamboanga Peninsula are invited to join its efforts to produce more houses to help the homeless people in the region.
