Zamboanga Sibugay Medical Center opens with medical outreach

IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay, Oct. 13 (PIA) – The “moving-in” and at the same time, soft opening of the Zamboanga Sibugay Medical Center (ZSMC) now named as Dr. George Tocao Hofer Medical Center at Tenan, Zambonga Sibugay was held October 12.

As Sibugaynons celebrated the feast of Nuestra Señora La Virgin Del Pilar, the Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) led by Provincial Governor Dr. Ann K. Hofer held the moving-in process of Dr. George T. Hofer Medical Center with a Holy Mass and a 3-day medical and dental outreach for Sibugaynons. The outreach included pedia consultation, OB-GYNE consultation, dental services, cyst excision, screening for "tahi-bungi" (cleft Lip), blood-letting activity, free haircut and COVID-19 vaccination.

Governor Ann K. Hofer said the medical center has major facilities that still needs to be completed before the grand opening set on February 11, 2023. “Dili lang one facility, but a 6-hectare with different facilities. Air-condition units ug lain pang facilities gi bid-out pa”.  (It's not just one facility but a 6-hectare with different facilities. Other facilities and aircons are on bidding process.)

Meanwhile, Dr. Sherwin Bastero, MD, Chief of Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Hospital expressed how grateful and excited he is to be part of the process of moving-in. “It’s a pride and honor to be part of this new journey.”

The ZSMC was renamed after the province's founding father Dr. George T. Hofer as per Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Zamboanga Sibugay Ordinance No 2022-608, " An ordinance naming the new provincial hospital located at Tenan, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay as the Dr. George Tocao Hofer Medical Center (RVC/EDT/JPA/JBL-GIP/PIA)
