26 pass KBP accreditation exam

DAGUPAN CITY (PIA) – The Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) has released the results of the accreditation examination held last July 16, 2022 at the Dagupan City Museum here.
 
Jay Mendoza, chairperson of KBP-Pangasinan Chapter, said 26 examinees passed from among the 34 takers from the provinces of Pangasinan and La Union, as well as from Baguio City.
 
Mendoza said the accreditation exam is aimed at raising the standards of professionalism in the broadcast industry.
 
Unaccredited broadcasters are not allowed to announce or comment on-air in KBP member stations unless they are passers of the exam, he said.
 
The examination makes up 50 percent of the accreditation process and an evaluation by the station manager accounts for the other 50 percent, he added.
 
Joshem Mangangey of DWHB 103.9 iFM/RMN topped this year’s exam with a score of 87 points while James Alcobilla of DWCM/Manila Broadcasting Company came in second with 86 points.
 
Third placers are Joyce Clare De Guzman of DWCM/Manila Broadcasting Company and Sophia Joyce Pagaduan of DWFB-DTV/Highland TV, both with 82 points.
 
Completing the top ten passers are: 4th place-Ralph Waldo Raposa of DWBG 95.9 Big Sound FM/VRN (81 points); 5th place-Joyce Rhen De Guzman of DWFB-DTV/Highland TV (79 points); 6th place-Relon Peace Keryao of DWFB-DTV/Highland TV (78 points); 7th place-Michelle Marzan of DWIM/People’s Broadcasting Inc. (77 points); tie at 8th place are Stephanie Alyssa Ang of DZWN/People’s Broadcasting Services Inc. and Caren Grace Cabanayan of DZRD/Sonshine Media Network Inc. and Philippine Information Agency (both 76 points); 9th placers are-Razged Pagoli of DWM/People’s Broadcasting Inc., Aubrey Nicol Mascariñas of DZWN/People’s Broadcasting Services Inc., and Analyn Bautista of DWKT 90.3 Energy FM Dagupan (all got 74 points); and 10th placers are Ericka Glynn Galera and Joanna Marie Altesing, both from DZWN/People’s Broadcasting Services Inc. with 72 points.
 
Prior to the test, examinees were provided with a basic orientation on the Broadcast Code wherein the program standards on news and public affairs, crime and crisis situation, on-air language, bribery, blocktimers, and the universal ethical standards were highlighted.
 
The principles of the KBP and the penalties and charges imposed upon violations of the Broadcast Code were also given emphasis during the orientation.
 
Mendoza urged unaccredited broadcasters to take the accreditation exams next year.
 
KBP is a non-government, non-profit organization of the broadcast media in the Philippines.
 
Its aims include the promotion of an independent and free broadcast media, responsible broadcasting, enhanced public service by broadcasters, advancement of innovation in broadcasting, and the development of Philippine broadcasting. (JCR/AMB/PIA Pangasinan)
