Antique solon files bills on educ, relevant concerns

SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) -- Antique Lone District Representative Antonio Agapito Legarda said that a total of 38 bills were already filed in Congress, containing legislative proposals relevant to the different sectors of the province.

In a radio program of the Philippine Information Agency-Antique aired over Radyo Natin San Jose, Legarda noted that his priority bills are on education, environmental protection, support to the welfare of Overseas Filipino Workers, and health and nutrition, among other relevant concerns.

He said that most of his legislative measures are on the establishment of elementary and integrated schools in the province and the proposed "One Tablet, One Student Act," which aims to provide students with (computer) tablets to respond to the need for online learning.

He also authored three other bills with the aim to advance the privileges of teachers.

On environmental protection, Legarda likewise filed House Bill No. 3021, supporting the regulation and management on the use of single-use plastics, and House Bill No. 3022, which seeks to institutionalize and promote sustainable and alternative modes of transportation.

He also authored House Bill No. 3023, which seeks to establish food banks and 

provide guidelines regarding the collection, storage, and distribution of edible food donated to food banks.

The Antique solon also committed to give priority to health and nutrition, putting emphasis on the establishment of more health centers in the barangays.

House Bill No. 3020 was also filed in Congress with the aim to protect the remittances of Overseas Filipino Workers.

He is also addressing other local concerns, particularly the development of the handloom weaving industry where Antique is known for its "Patadyong," a handloom industry that has engaged more locals in the creation of various products. House bill No. 3019 was filed in support of this concern.

Legarda is optimistic that he could facilitate more projects and services for the Antiqueños in partnership with her sister Senator Loren Legarda who are equally committed to serve the province.
