PBBM: Masskara tells 'RP is now back to business'

BACOLOD CITY (PIA) -- President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has lauded the Bacolod City government for staging the most successful Masskara Festival in history.

He was the guest of honor in the Arena Dance competition as a highlight in today's final stretch of the festival.

"Kung kaya nilang gawin ang Masskara Festival sa Bacolod, dapat tayong lahat ay ganyan din na bumangon na tayo," the President said.

The four-decade old festival was originally created as a diversion from two major tragedies that befell Negrenses on the year of its inception in 1980.

Coincidentally, the festival was staged this year after a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19 pandemic to bring back the smiles of the people, businesses and all other sectors affected by the economic crisis.

Bacolod is popularly known as “City of Smiles” mainly due to the smiling masks worn during a colorful festival of dance, music, cuisine, tourism and life in the country’s sugar industry capital. (JBG/AAL/PIA6)
