TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) - - The Cagayan Museum and Historical Research Center has recently recognized and awarded various organizations for their support to the museum’s projects and programs.
The event is a part of this year’s celebration of National Museums and Galleries Month.
The organizations and institutions recognized and awarded were Cagayan Heritage Conservation Society, Crania Heritage Sciences, Inc, Cagayan Artists Group, Inc., Tuguegarao City Heritage Guides Association, Tuguegarao East Central School, North Luzon Cinema Guild Inc., Banda Alyansa - Cagayan Chapter, and the Sierra Madre Outdoor Club.
The event was followed by this month’s episode of Cagayan Conversations Series, a continuing seminar organized by the Museum where various culture and history-related topics are presented and discussed to the public.
The topics discussed included the historical Spanish forts and the indigenous languages of Cagayan Valley, both of which were presented respectively by Ar. Michael T. Tabao and Jan Karl C. Coballes of the Cagayan Heritage Conservation Society.
Kevin D. Baclig, the Museum’s curator, also presented the new definition of museums which is now being adopted globally.
According to him, museums today should no longer act as mere storage and display areas of relics, but they must be multi-sensory– they should actively involve the public in reliving the stories behind each artifact through various interactive media, platforms, events, and activities.
