Caluya Island inaugurates fire station

SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) - - The Island town of Caluya in northern Antique recently inaugurated its fire station in partnership with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

The blessing and activation of Caluya Fire Station was graced by BFP Regional Director Chief Superintendent Jerry D Candido,  who was the guest speaker. He was joined by  Superintendent Patricio G Collado, the BFP Antique provincial director.

The fire station in Caluya is the 17th fire station in the province.

Candido expressed his gratitude to the local officials of Caluya led by Mayor Rigil Kent Lim for their unwavering support to the BFP to ensure that the people in the island will have a fire station to go to in case of fire, disasters and other emergencies.

BFP also cited the support and eagerness of Mayor Lim to have a local fire station, that upon the BFP’s request for the area to be utilized as the fire station, he immediately responded, thus, the inauguration of the building and its facilities.

BFP Information Officer Euly Mae Gomez Raymaro said that the LGU- Caluya provided for one unit fire truck and the building for the firefighters.

The activity in Caluya town was attended by BFP officials, including Regional Chief Logistics Chief Inspector Joeffrey Animas, Regional Chief Admin. Chief Inspector Lorna  Parcellano,   Acting San Jose  Municipal Fire Marshal Inspector Vic Matta, other acting municipal fire marshals and personnel.

Also in attendance were Caluya Vice Mayor Belfe S. Duran, Sangguniang Bayan members and other officials from the national  government agencies and local government.
