DTI destroys over P260K uncertified products in Isabela

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) - - In compliance to Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) - Administrative Order No. 20-50, s. 2020, the confiscated uncertified products in this province worth P261,849 were recently destroyed.

DTI Isabela Consumer Protection Division chief Elmer Agorto said the destruction was the result of the DTI’s intensive monitoring and enforcement operations for the year.

Agorto said the destroyed products with no mandatory certification markings as required by the Philippine National Standards (PNS) were motorcycle inner tubes, lead-acid batteries, electric fans, electric kettles, and other household appliances.

"The destruction of uncertified mandatory products is part of DTI’s mandate to promote product safety awareness and consumer protection in the province," Agorto added.

Agorto has urged the public not to buy uncertified products that are sold in the markets for their safety and has called to help DTI in identifying businesses that distribute these dangerous items so that appropriate action may be taken.

He assured that DTI employees will continue to monitor business establishments and confiscate the uncertified products for disposal. (MDCT/MGE/ PIA Isabela)
