KAUSWAGAN, Lanao del Norte (PIA)--The local government of Kauswagan opened its amusement park on Oct. 15 situated on the town’s longest boardwalk.
The park features five major rides such as ferris wheel, picaroon, airbike, carousel, and train. The P26 million cost of the construction was financed through a Local Initiative for the Creation and Establishment of a Tourism Destination in the town.
Making the amusement park the first of its kind in Northern Mindanao, the park is seen to be an income-generating tourist attraction. More rides will also be added in the upcoming years.
“Hindi namin inutang to [We did not take out a loan for this], we set aside a budget to do this kind of amusement activity and it’s all being paid in full. Duna tay [We have] quality assurance on that. We make sure that it is very safe, in fact, we had the rides run for a month in order to make sure,” said Mayor Rommel Arnado.
Meanwhile, Abdullah Macapaar, a parliament member of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority, also known as Moro Islamic Liberation Front’s (MILF) Commander Bravo, is elated with the opening of the amusement park as it shows progress and development.
“Kami ay very happy. Sa panig ng MILF, ang gusto namin mamaintain ang peace and order dito sa Lanao del Norte,” said Macapaar.

Moreover, Department of the Interior and Local Government Lanao del Norte provincial director Bruce Colao lauded the efforts of the local government of Kauswagan in the opening of its amusement park which can be a good role model for other local government units.
On weekdays, the park opens from 4 P.M. to 10 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. during weekends. The four rides cost P50 per person while the airbike costs P300. A P10 environmental fee is also paid. (LELA/ PIA Lanao del Norte)
