Dagyaw 2022: Building mutual trust between government, people in ZamPen

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Oct 24 (PIA) -- In a bid to provide a venue for citizens and government to come together to engage in discourse, Dagyaw Town Hall Meeting is set on October 26, 2022, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at Garden Orchid Hotel, Zamboanga City.

Dagyaw 2022 aimed at building mutual trust between the government and the people by providing an open, neutral, and protected space for dialogue on national and local issues among government and non-government stakeholders.

In line with the celebration of Local Government’s Month, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Regional Office IX and other partner agencies will spearhead the event with the goal of improving local service delivery.

DILG Undersecretary Marlo L. Iringan will share a situationer on the participation of the Civil Society on Local Governance. This is to promote and ensure the direct participation of various stakeholders in the crafting and formulation of policies and programs to address emergent governance issues and concerns at the grassroots level and initiate programs and projects that will facilitate citizen empowerment and participation in governance at the regional and local levels.

Meanwhile, Zamboanga-Basilan Integrated Development Alliance, Inc. (ZABIDA) Executive Director Esperancita Hupida will discuss the ZABIDA experience in harnessing Civil Society Organizations as Effective Partners in Local Governance.

Dagyaw is a Hiligaynon term for “Bayanihan” which brings the concept of “togetherness”. In the Town Hall Meeting, citizens can ask questions from the government and provide feedback on public programs and services. Likewise, government agencies may promote and explain government initiatives.

2,000 Participants are expected to join virtually while 300 participants for on-site. The general public can stream online through the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Western Mindanao Facebook page and other government partner agencies. (NBE/EDT/CCP/PIA-9)
