LEGAZPI CITY, ALBAY (PIA) – The Department of Trade and Industry – Albay launches on Tuesday, this week the three-day Product Standards Fair at the ground floor of Ayala Malls Legazpi City as opportunity for consumers to be aware of products and brands that are compliant with quality and safety standards.
"We are inviting consumers to take advantage of this exhibit, not only to appreciate the products but also to have the opportunity to see for themselves and compare standard and fake or substandard products," DTI Bicol Director Rodrigo Aguilar said.

The Fair showcases the products that passed the mandatory quality and safety standards set by the Bureau of Philippine Standards (BPS). Some 14 exhibitors comprised of national and provincial industry associations, manufacturers and distributors joined the fair.
"There are products that can put at risk and endanger lives if not compliant with the standards and are not certified safe for use. These include electrical and construction products," Rodrigo added.
The participating exhibitors are Goodfound Cement Corporation, Exponent-Konka Group Inc., Conception Midea Inc., Citihardware Bacolod Inc., Wilcon Depot Inc., Rockwell Enterprises and Citi Plus Home Depot/ Ceramics Manufacturers Association Inc.
Also in the fair are Oriental and Motolite Marketing Corp., Philippine Association of BIGI and Tubes, Steel Asia and Manufacturing Corp., Plaswealth Phils. Corp., Sheridan Marketing Inc., Willy and Sons Corp./GTC-Aidis PHL Inc., and Swedish Match PH Inc.

Aside from the fair, DTI Albay also convened stakeholders for the Product Standards Conformance and Advocacy Forum for Business Establishments on October 25 and Standards Advocacy for Engineering Students (SAFE) on October 26.
The fair is open to the public from October 25 to 27.
The Product Standards Fair is one of the highlights of the celebration of the National Consumer Welfare Month with the theme “Sustainable Consumerism in the Digital Age.” (PIA5/Albay)
