Pangasinan police on full alert to secure for ‘Undas’

DAGUPAN CITY, (PIA) – The Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPO) is now on full alert status to ensure maximum security and safety of the public during this year’s observance of “Undas.”

PMAJ Ria Tacderan, provincial information officer of the Pangasinan PPO, said at least 1,159 police personnel in the province will be deployed to all points of convergence such as cemeteries, malls, churches, tourists spots, and transportation terminals to ensure maximum safety coverage and heightened police visibility.

“Aside from our PPO personnel na magbabantay sa 176 na sementeryo, meron din po tayong mga magigiting na force multipliers totaling to at least 2,891 na binubuo ng mga Barangay Peace Keeping Action Teams, Kabalikat, Deltacom at marami pang iba,” Tacderan said during the ‘Pantongtongan Tayo’ virtual presser of PIA-Pangasinan on Tuesday.

During the observation of the event, Tacderan said police personnel will man all entries of cemeteries to ensure that all prohibited items such as deadly or bladed weapons, loud speakers, liquors, and gambling paraphernalia will not get inside.

She added that police officers will render safety assistance to all motorists along national and provincial highways and all major thoroughfares in the province to guide them going to public and private cemeteries, malls, and even tourist spots.

Tacderan said Pangasinan PPO will also provide public health safety services to ensure that the minimum public health protocols are followed during the observation of Undas.

She said protocols during the cemetery visitation may vary from the advisories of the local government unit in their municipality or city but wearing of mask and bringing their identification cards especially if they have kids with them is encouraged.

Likewise, Tacderan advised those leaving their houses for a few days to ask a trusted neighbor to watch over their house, lock all doors and windows to block all possible entry, and do not leave electrical units unplug especially Christmas lights to prevent the cause of fire.

Meanwhile, based on the 2022 data, Pangasinan PPO recorded 127 theft incidents with 88 solved cases and 51 robbery incidents; from which, 30 of them were arrested.
