DHSUD recognizes homeowners associations, LGUs in Ilocos Sur

VIGAN CITY (PIA) — The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Region 1, in partnership with the Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur (PGIS), recognized Homeowners Associations (HOA) and Local Government Units (LGUs) during the celebration of the 2022 National Shelter Month.


On Thursday, the DHSUD Ilocos Region, along with the National Housing Authority (NHA) and the Human Settlements Adjudication Commission (HSAC) visited the province to hold activities to commemorate the said event.

The Camella Candon HOA, Inc., Camella Bantay HOA, Inc., and the Carrington Place Subdivision HOA, Inc. were awarded the Most Compliant HOAs.


For adopting local shelter plans, the cities of Candon and Vigan and the towns of Cervantes, San Emilio, San Esteban, Santa, Santa Lucia, Santo Domingo, Sinait, Sugpon, and Tagudin were recognized.


Meanwhile, for the Newly Approved Comprehensive Land Use Plans (CLUP), the municipalities od Santa Maria, Sinait, Cervantes, San Juan (Lapog), Suyo, and Tagudin were acknowledged.


The DHSUD also awarded plaques for the most units produced and licensed to sell to the Communities Ilocos, Inc. with 202 units, and the New Javier Corporation with 105 units—both medium-cost housing projects.

Governor Jerry Singson, during his message, said, “Shelter is vital to the overall development of the province and the enhancement of the socio-economic and spiritual well-being of our people, it is a fundamental right.”


He added, “We celebrate National Shelter Month with the hope of ending the unfortunate state of our families in the informal sectors. It is our moral obligation to ensure that everyone lives in a good place.”


Also highlighting the event was the oath taking of the officers of the Provincial Federation of Homeowners Associations and the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement entered into by the provincial government with the DHSUD, Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor, and other key shelter agencies.  (JCR/JPD/ATV, PIA Ilocos Sur)
