MCN's 'Info-Service Caravan' delivers several services in Dumingag town

DUMINGAG, Zamboanga del Sur, Oct. 27 (PIA)- The 'Information-Service Caravan' organized by the Mindanao Communicator's Network (MCN) was lauded by the people of Dumingag for its successful conduct in one of the Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA) in the town recently.

On October 25, around 30 national government agencies (NGAs) together with the local government unit (LGU) went up to barangay Saad, the most remote barangay in Dumingag to deliver programs and services of their respective agencies to the poor residents.

The NGAs set up their respective booths and offer their programs and services as follows: health ad dental services, birth and national ID registration, distribution of complementary foods, hygiene and survival kits, and school supplies, deworming and vitamins for livestock, and others.

Punong Barangay Jeffrey Señara said that the 'Information-Service Caravan' had a great impact on their lives because they personally experienced and saw the honest service provided by the several government agencies that traveled from Zamboanga and Pagadian City.

"In the early days the leftist group spread the issues that the government failed to provide programs and services to mybarangay. But now, we have personally experienced and seen many government agencies come to our barangay and wholeheartedly offer their services and at the same time, answer the questions and problems of the residents of my barangay," Señara said in vernacular.

He added that this is the second time that a similar event has been held in their barangay.

"In the past years, we suffered because we did not receive and avail of government services but now several government services have reached here in our barangay. In fact, I find it difficult to accommodate them around our barangay hall because the size of the area is too small," Señara added.

Dr. Cecil Abuy of the Population Commission (POPCOM), the president of the MCN announced that their organization whose members are the information officers of the national government agencies regularly conduct the Info-Seribisyo Caravan' and this year, they have chosen Barangay Saad as the beneficiary of their project.

He also urged them that if there are those who recruit them to join their organization, they should not believe because even though the government is far away from them, it is always ready to come and give its genuine service,” Abuy proudly said.

Meanwhile, Regional Director Noemi Edaga of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) said that the 'Information-Service Caravan' brought good news and genuine services to the poor people.

She gave importance to the information that should be delivered to the people.

"Of all the services provided by the government except for food, the most important service is information-- because through this, we can have knowledge and we will not be easily deceived by fake news," said Edaga.

She also said that PIA actively supports the event and informed the public that the work of Agency is to combat fake news, inform the people of timely, accurate and relevant information. (NBE/GCC/PIA-Zamboanga del Sur)
