DTI continues to stage Diskwento Caravans in Region 1

SAN FERNANDO CITY (PIA) – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) continues to conduct Diskwento Caravans in the Ilocos Region.

DTI Ilocos regional director Grace Falgui-Baluyan said the Diskwento Caravan is one of the initiatives of the agency to bring basic commodities and prime goods to far flung communities and make the said products more accessible to the public.

Baluyan noted that the Diskwento Caravan offers up to 10% discount and a variety of products which consumers may choose from.

“We wanted to ensure that barangays, especially far flung villages, have access to commodities and varying products despite their locations,” Baluyan said.

She added, “Mas magaan at makakatipid din ang ating mga consumer dahil hindi na nila kailangan pang gumastos ng pamasahe papuntang bayan para makapamili.”

DTI is partnering directly with various manufacturers and distributors so it can be sold to communities at the lowest price possible.

At present, DTI Ilocos has 78 partner-manufacturers.

As of September 2022, DTI was able to stage a total of 31 caravans serving 768 barangays in the region which generated sales amounting to P10.8 million. (JCR/AMB/CGRC, PIA Region 1)
