DSWD FO1 readies assistance for Paeng-affected families

SAN FERNANDO CITY (PIA) - The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 1 (DSWD FO 1) has prepared augmentation assistance to be given to families affected by Severe Tropical Storm Paeng.


“We have enough food and non-food items for impacted families in our region,” Marlene Febes D. Peralta, DSWD FO1 assistant regional director for operations, said.


As of 12 noon on November 1, the field office has 31,902 family food packs amounting to PHP19.8 million and 14,619 non-food items worth PhP36 million.


“These are all kept in the 13 regional and satellite warehouses in the eegion,” she said.


Pangasinan and Ilocos Norte have four warehouses each, three in Ilocos Sur, and two in La Union.


Peralta added that Secretary Erwin Tulfo has directed all field offices across the country to add bottled drinking water in Food and Non-Food Items Stockpile for ready augmentation to Local Government Units (LGUs) affected by calamities.


“There are 5,051 6-liter drinking water bottles stored at 2 regional warehouses in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte and City of San Fernando, La Union that will be distributed to the evacuees and to other affected families in the region depending on the request of the concerned LGUs,” she said.


Currently, DSWD FO 1 reported that their available quick response fund amounts to PhP11.9 million.


As per the agency’s latest situational report, 928 families composed of 3,467 individuals were affected by Typhoon Paeng. (JCR/JPD, PIA La Union)
