Farmers, fisherfolk finish training on sugarcane processing

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) - - Some 34 members of the Sitio Lagis Farmers and Fisherfolk Association (SFFA) have succesfully completed a 2-day sugarcane processing training on October 24-25, 2022 held in Sitio Lagis, Sindun Bayabo, City of Ilagan, Isabela.

DTI - Isabela Shared Service Facility Technical Assistants Jayron Corpuz and Krystal Twinkle Fortuna, together with Negsosyo Center - Ilagan Junior Business Counselor Sahina Shields Basilio, supervised the conduct of the training in the said remote site of the city.

Corpuz said the training aimed at upscaling the SFFA members in the processing of sugarcane raw materials into marketable finished products.

He further said the association is also a benenfiaciary of the DTI’s Shared Service Facility program wherein they were provided with a facility to process their sugarcane products.

He said an actual demonstration on the procedures and steps was conducted where the group was able to produce and process sugarcane juice into Muscovado sugar, sugarcane juice, syrup, vinegar and sugarcane wine.  

Corpuz also said the SFFA members were taught on pricing, costing and the basics of marketing of their produced products.. (MGE / PIA Isabela)
