Antique receives assistance from PBBM

SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) -- Antiqueños are grateful of the various government assistance provided to them after they were badly hit by the recent Severe Tropical Storm ‘Paeng’ in Antique, November 8

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. personally led the distribution of assistance and livelihood aid to the families and individuals affected by the strom, vowing the continuous and smooth delivery of government help.

In his speech, President Marcos said that he, along with his cabinet secretaries, personally go to the provinces to assess the damages and know further the needed help of the provinces brought by STS Paeng.

“At tinitiyak lang natin na maayos naman ang pagbigay ng tulong sa ating mga kababayan na nagangailangan. Kasi hirap na nga tayo, tinamaan pa tayo ng bagyo. Sana naman hindi maging abala ang pagbigay ng tulong para sa mga nangangailanagn kaagad. Kaya’t nandito po kami, para tiyakin yan,” the chief executive said.

Among the assistance distributed were hygiene kits, food packs and PhP5,000.00 cash from the Department of Social Welfare and Development to 1,200 recipients from five hard-hit towns.

Specifically, the towns of  Hamtic, San Jose and Patnongon  listed with 300 beneficiaries each;  Sibalom with 200 recipients;  and San Remigio, 100.

Also, the DSWD distributed P10,000 grant to 300 beneficiaries in the province under its Sustainable Livelihood Program/Livelihood Assistance Grant.

Meanwhile, the Department of Trade and Industry had given vouchers for livelihood packages under the Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa Program to six micro, small, and medium size enterprises (MSMEs) from the municipalities of San Jose and Culasi.  

Other government agencies that extended assistance were the Department of Agriculture, Department of Labor and Employment, Department of Health and Department of Public Works and Highways. (AAL/SQP/PIA6)
