'Gumagalaw Caravan' offers services to children in Pagadian City

PAGADIAN CITY, Nov 10 (PIA)—The Regional Council for the Welfare of Children (RCWC) in partnership with the local government of the city held the 'Gumagalaw Caravan' in celebration of the 30th National Children's Month with the theme "Kalusugan, Kaisipan, at Kapakanan ng Bawat Bata Ating Tutukan”.

The agencies of the national government and Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) gathered at the covered court, Plaza Luz on November 9 to provide their services to the children.

Raymond Domingo, the regional head of the National Youth Commission (NYC-IX) and chairman of the 'Gumagalaw Caravan' said that the event was attended by the following: Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Local Government Unit (LGU)-Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur-Pagadian City Pharmacist's Association, JCI, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and other organizations.

"In the 'Gumagalaw Caravan', we toured region 9 to inform the people that November is Childrens' Month. This month, we give great importance to children in our society. We have to nurture and take care of the children so that we will no longer hear children crying," Domingo announced.

"During our tour, we brought together various government agencies and other people's organizations from Zamboanga City to respond to the needs of our children," Domingo added.

The NYC head also said that it is necessary for the RCWC member-agencies to check the situation of the children and to ensure that the rights of the children are enjoyed by them.

The services offered to the children are the provision of free medical check up and vitamins, face painting, distribution of school supplies and slippers, and COVID-19 vaccination and distribution of vegetable seeds and rice to the parents.

The advocacy of the child protection program of the City Social Welfare and Development, Department of Education and Philippine National Police was also conducted in the afternoon.

The 'Gumagalaw Caravan' Team has already conducted their tour in the following places: Dapitan City, Dipolog City, Liloy in Zamboanga del Norte, Ipil, Kabasan, and Buug in Zamboanga Sibugay, Pagadian City, and the town of Molave ​​in Zamboanga del Sur.
