Philhealth launches KonSulta program, mass registration in Aklan

KALIBO, Aklan (PIA) --  The Philippine Health Insurance  Corporation (PhilHealth) 6 recently launched  its Konsultasyong Sulit at Tama (KonSulta) program in New Washington, Aklan.

KonSulta is a flagship program of PhilHealth that intends to ensure that every Filipino has access to the preventive health care services it offers.

The launching was led by Philhealth 6 officials led by Acting Regional Vice President Janet Monteverde with the full support of PhilHealth-Aklan led by Bien Paul Obordo, Chief Social Insurance Officer, and in coordination with the Provincial Government of Aklan and the New Washington LGU.

Residents of New Washington, Aklan flocked to the town's covered sports complex recently to attend the launching of PhilHealth's KonSulta program and to register for the program with the assistance of PhilHealth-Aklan personnel and the LGU's health workers.

In her message, Monteverde thanked the province of Aklan and the municipality of New Washington for hosting the launching, and congratulated LGU New Washington, headed by Mayor Jessica Panambo,  for being the first in the region to have an accredited facility for the KonSulta program through its Rural Health Unit (RHU).

She assured the people of New Washington, who came in droves to participate in the mass registration for the program, that PhilHealth will do its best to bring its services to every Filipino.

 “Bawat Filipino ay miyembro ng Philhealth,” she stressed.

For her part, Panambo thanked PhilHealth for choosing New Washington among Aklan’s 17 towns to launch the KonSulta program.

She reminded her constituents that health is wealth, and not to be afraid to seek consultation.

“Prevention is better than cure, let us take care of our health,” Panambo said.

Presently, the province of Aklan has 12 accredited Konsulta facilities where Aklanons can already avail of health care professional services like consultation, health screening and management of condition.

These facilities are the RHUs of Buruanga, Ibajay (2), Kalibo (2), Makato, New Washington, Numancia, Banga, Nabas and Libacao, and the Dr. Rafael S. Tumbokon Memorial Hospital (DRSTMH).

Under the program, these facilities can also provide laboratory examinations and some drugs and medicines for common conditions like asthma, pneumonia, Urinary Tract Infection (UTI), diabetes, and hypertension, among others.

PhilHealth-Aklan revealed that three other health facilities located in the towns of Batan, Balete and Madalag are in the process of accreditation for the Konsulta program. (JBG/VGV/PIA6 Aklan)
