ZAMBOANGA CITY, Nov 14 (PIA) -- The wider, safer, and more accessible road for motorists in Zamboanga Peninsula is now open for public use.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-9 confirms the completion of the construction of the Php 66-Million worth road widening project in Zamboanga del Norte and the construction of Php 16-Million worth of concrete road project in Isabela City, Basilan.
With the opening for public use of the constructed road widening along Dipolog – Polanco – Piñan – JCT Oroquieta, Zamboanga del Norte, motorists, especially farmers, will now have a faster travel time to transport raw materials and agricultural products such as rice and coconut. Likewise, neighboring municipalities can utilize the widened road to reach vital establishments such as markets, hospitals, and schools—a huge advantage to socio-economic growth in the province.

The road widening project was implemented by the DPWH Zamboanga del Norte 3rd District Engineering Office. A total amount of Php 66-Million was allotted of the General Appropriation Act (GAA) 2021 to widen the road with a net length of 5,049.00 meters (2,524.50 meters per lane), lessening the traffic congestion in the road.
Meanwhile, residents, especially farmers in Barangay Lumbang and Barangay Kumalarang, Isabela City is happy with the completion of the 1,963-meter (981.50 meters per lane) concrete road connecting the two barangays.
This Php 16-Million worth of project funded by the General Appropriations Act (GAA 2022) and implemented by the DPWH Isabela City District Engineering aims to boost the livelihoods of the locals in the city as it also caters to motorists from neighboring barangays with a faster travel time.
