BAGUIO CITY (PIA) -- The Philippine Statistics Authority - Cordillera (PSA-CAR) spearheaded the Regional Data Dissemination Forum on 2020 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (ASPBI) Results at the Plaza Lodge in Baguio City Thursday (November 10).
 
The survey result will be used in constructing national and regional income accounts of the Philippine economy, in formulating and monitoring plans/policies in the attainment of national and regional economic goals, in determining and comparing regional economic structures and performances, in analyzing economic performance of micro, small and medium enterprises, among others.

PSA-CAR Regional Director Villafe Alibuyog said the 49th series of the ASPBI was conducted in April 2021, a year after the COVID-19 pandemic hit that has greatly impacted the economy.

"The completion of this undertaking is a huge accomplishment for our agency as among the workers who are continuously working even with the threat of contracting the disease. With various strategies and efforts exerted in spite of these challenges, we were able to achieve about 80% response rate including the referrals from areas outside the region," Alibuyog stated.

The ASPBI is one of the designated statistical activities of the PSA that aims to generate essential statistics for economic planning and analysis. It is specifically designed to collect and generate information on the levels, structure, performance, and trends of economic activities of the formal sector of the country’s economy.

Alibuyog said PSA-CAR was able to generate 87.2% response rate among the surveyed establishments in the formal sector in the region.

The PSA during the event  awarded  of certificates, plaque, and token of appreciation to the ASPBI top respondents.
 
The awardees are: Abra Diocesan Teachers and Employees Cooperative, Isnag Builders and Development Corporation, Lamut Grassroots Savings and Development Cooperative, Kalinga-Apayao Electric Cooperative, Inc., Mountain Province Electric Cooperative, La Trinidad Water District, King's College of the Philippines, Philex Mining Corporation, Adriste Philippines Inc., Benguet Electric Cooperative, and the Baguio Water District.

 
The PSA also recognized the Philex Mining Corporation for being a national awardee for Mining and Quarrying, and the Baguio Water District for Water Supply, Sewerage, Waste Management and Remediation Activities.
 
"This activity is one way of saying thank you especially to the establishments who are providing data to the PSA. It is the responsibility of the PSA to give the results of those information that you are giving to PSA," said Alibuyog. (JDP/DEG-PIA CAR)
