PTF ELCAC engages village officials in a dialogue for peace

SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) - - The Antique Provincial Task Force (PTF), on the implementation of Executive Order No. 70 or Whole-of-Nation Approach to End Local Communist and Armed Conflict (ELCAC), engaged local officials in a dialogue for peace in the upland villages of Hamtic and Sibalom towns.

The Provincial Peace and Order and Public Safety (POPS) Office of the Provincial Government of Antique, in partnership with the peacekeeping authorities, spearheaded the gathering of barangay officials to discuss concerns of their barangays to ensure that government services are accessible to the people, especially the disadvantaged families.

Governor Rhodora Cadiao, in an information caravan in barangay Tula-tula, Sibalom, assured the upland communities that the provincial government of Antique is putting priority on their needs.

The damaged roads and bridges, brought about by severe tropical storm “Paeng” which hindered their transportation to the market and main source of relief goods, were already responded to by the provincial government.

The Caravan of Services initiated by the PTF ELCAC was conducted in barangays

Bongbongan III, Linaban, Soloc, Cantolan, Pili, Botbot, Pasu-Jungao and Pamandayan, all in the town of Hamtic.

In the Sibalom town, the Caravan of services was held in Barangay Tula-tula covering other villages namely, Bontol, Calo-oy, Lambayagan, Vicente Grasparil, Bulalacao, Luyang, Tordesillas, Luna and Igparas.

POPS consultant and PTF ELCAC lead convenor Margie L. Gadian emphasized to the people that the government officials and agencies are all out in their support to ensure the needs of the people are given priority.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Angelo Pueblos urged the barangay officials to support government efforts to uplift the lives of their constituents and condemn the communist terrorist groups who exploited them.

Other top officials of the Philippine Army and the PNP were also with the team who facilitated the dialogue and assured the barangay officials that they can approach them anytime if they need help.

After the dialogue, the local officials and members of the PTF ELCAC signed a pledge of commitment against the com-

munist terrorist groups and condemn any acts of terrorism.

The local officials also vowed to support government efforts to develop their communities.

Aside from the medical and dental mission, the caravan of services also featured the distribution of essential kits such as water containers, relief goods/food packs, school supplies and other items donated by government agencies and private individuals.

The local officials of Hamtic and Sibalom have also sent their team to assist in the distribution of goods and services at the said event. (JBG/PSM/PIA-Antique)
