ILOILO CITY (PIA) -- Stakeholders from the agri and fishery sector in Western Visayas, along with the national industry experts, will convene on November 18, 2022 in Iloilo City for a regional dialogue focusing on food security and sustainability.
The Iloilo Business Club (IBC), lead event organizer, said that this activity is an off-shoot of a focus group discussion which IBC also hosted last September among local agriculture point persons.
“Food sustainability is a growing global concern and IBC’s contribution is to provide a venue for discussion where proactive interventions could happen and support our community,” IBC President Emil Diez said in a press statement.
According to IBC, the regional dialogue will kick off with a message from President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. through DA Assistant Secretary Grace Catherine Miranda. She will also present the national direction and strategies in ensuring food security.
Further, the sharing of best practices and support services will come from topic presentations such as agribiz trends, agri-preneurship and farm clustering, innovative financing, digital agriculture, farm logistics, and organic revolution.
The regional dialogue is bannered with the theme “Next Gen Farming: Enhancing Food Sustainability in Western Visayas.”
It is supported by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) 6 and the Department of Agriculture (DA) 6. (JBG/LML/PIA-Iloilo)
