MTRCB holds Responsableng Panonood campaign in DavNor

DAVAO CITY - The Movie Television and Review Classification Board (MTRCB) has started its Responsableng Panonood (Responsible Viewing) campaign in Davao Region with a multi-sectoral forum held last November 15 in Panabo City, Davao del Norte.

The forum gave the MTRCB an opportunity to impart to the Panaboans how they can use the MTRCB ratings and classifications in practicing informed and responsible viewership. Gracing the event were current board members of the MTRCB Rico Pableo and Evelyn Quinsay.

“The objective of Responsableng Panonood is to reach out to our viewers both in television and movies in order to establish their capacity to determine and choose the most appropriate viewing for their family and introduce them to authentic Filipino values in this time,” MTRCB board member Rico Pableo said.

The Responsableng Panonood forum in Panabo is the first public outreach face-to-face seminar of the MTRCB in the region.

“This is one of the developmental programs of the agency for nation building and the teach our young generation towards a better future,” Pableo said.

“We really need to guide our children we should not leave them when watching, they should not be watching things like kissing-kissing,” Medilyn Bagorio, one of the forum attendees said. A grandmother to a very young kid, Bagorio says she only allows educational videos to be shown to her grandchild and makes it a point to be at his side when watching shows on television.

The Responsableng Panonood forum in Panabo City was conducted in partnership with the City Government of Panabo and the Local Media Board of the city.

Another similar forum is set to be conducted in Tagum City’s Tagum Theater on Nov. 18. (PIA/RG Alama, photos by Panabo City Information Office)
