Neg. Occ. cites NSM tilts winners

NEGROS OCCIDENTAL (PIA) – Winners of the 33rd National Statistics Month celebration contests on Provincial Essay Writing Contest and Best Statistical Infographics were named in an awarding rites held at the Negros Residences in Bacolod City.

The winners of the Statistical Essay Writing Contest for High School students were Jan Vincent Omen of Himamaylan National High School, first place; John Lloyd Artesano of Himamaylan National High School, 2nd place; Erika Torion of SPED High School Cadiz City; 3rd place; Gian Michael Ramirez of Kabankalan National High School, 4th place; and Shanaia Kaye Pamintuan of Dr. Vicente F. Gustilo Memorial National High School, 5th place.

Meanwhile, the winners of the Best Statistical Infographics for Provincial Government Departments, Offices and Hospitals were the Provincial Tourism Office, first place; Provincial Administrator’s Office, 2nd place; and Provincial Human Resource and Management Office, 3rd place; the Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital was given a special award.

Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson, Provincial Administrator lawyer Rayfrando Diaz III and Provincial Planning and Development Officer Anna Marie Lucasan led the awarding rites to cap the 33rd NSM month celebration here.

Lacson said celebrating the National Statistics Month is an excellent way of fostering awareness of the importance of Science and Statistics, how such a methodical way of gathering data is indispensable in nation-building, and that without Statistics, organizations, particularly the government cannot formulate accurate solutions to the different issues that need to be addressed.
