Bong Go visits construction of Super Health Center; distributes assistance in Puerto Princesa City

PUERTO PRINCESA, Palawan, (PIA) -- Senator Christopher Lawrence "Bong" T. Go visited earlier today, November 19, the construction of the Super Health Center in Barangay Inagawan in Puerto Princesa City.

Go, who pushed for the funding of the Super Health Centers through the Department of Health (DOH), cited that health services will be brought closer to the citizens and there will be no need to go to a distant hospital.

According to the Senator, it is bigger than the usual Rural Health Unit and includes a maternity ward, laboratory and others.

Apart from the Super Health Center in Puerto Princesa City, four more will be built in Balabac, Española, Quezon and Taytay.

Since it started in 2018, the program has now established 152 centers nationwide.

"Mayroon na po tayong 152 malasakit centers sa buong Pilipinas na handang tumulong sa inyo— ang malasakit center one-stop shop po yan sa loob ng ospital,” said Go.

Sen. Go also attended the distribution of Assistance for Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to 2,000 beneficiaries in Puerto Princesa City Coliseum as part of the agency’s protective services for individual belonging to the poor, marginalized, vulnerable, and disadvantaged sector.

Apart from this, Go also handed out crutches, wheelchairs, canes, food packs and many others.

In his speech, he urged the beneficiaries to get vaccinated and booster shot to be protected against COVID-19.

The Senator also encouraged the DOH and the Local Government Unit to visit the remote areas to vaccinate residents who have not yet been vaccinated. (MCE/GATS/PIA MIMAROPA)
