ZAMBOANGA CITY, Nov. 23 (PIA) – Department of Budget and Management 9 (DBM 9) conducts three-day Mindanao League of Local Budget Officers (MLLBO) Annual Conference and Seminar in Zamboanga City from November 22 to 24.
The conference aims to strengthen and empower the local government public financial management through digitalization. It brings together all the Local Government Unit officials and employees from different provinces, cities and municipalities in Mindanao.
DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman personally visited and was one of the resource speakers for the conference. In her message, Sec. Pangandaman highlighted the recent development of the country's economic growth, wherein the GDP has grown to 7.6 percent for the third quarter of 2022.
According to the Budget Secretary, the growth is attributable to the reopening of the economy after series of restrictions in mobility and also due to good tax performance.
"We hope to sustain this growth, if not surpass it, and we believe that enhancing our digital governance will play a crucial role in achieving this," Sec. Pangandaman said.

Meanwhile, DBM 9 also celebrated its 45th Anniversary on Monday (Nov. 21) and was graced by Sec. Pangandaman. DMB 9 Regional Director Mark Louie Martin commits to continue to serve and deliver the mandate despite some challenges.
"As a testament to our commitment to ensuring a clean and efficient bureaucracy, we have allocated some Php 12.47 billion in the 2023 Proposed National Budget for the digitalization of government services," Sec. Pangandaman noted. (RVC/MLE/PIA9-Zamboanga City/with reports from DBM9)
