
BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) - - At least 214 fish farmers in the province recently received free fingerlings from the provincial government.
Absalom Rizal Baysa, acting provincial agriculturist, said the 405,000 fish species were given to the fish farmers of Bagabag, Bayombong, Solano and Villaverde who were heavily affected by the recent typhoon ‘Paeng’.
“These fingerlings distribution was conducted on a staggered basis to our fish farmer – beneficiaries. This will help them in recovering their loses brought by the recent typhoon,” he said.
Baysa said the fish assistance worth P657,968.88 through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Fund (PDRRF) provided 300,000 tilapia, 35,000 cut fish, and 70,000 common carp fingerlings to the beneficiaries .
He said the assistance is expected to help the province’s fish farmers in augmenting their income and assured their support for additional fish assistance for those who are in need. (OTB/BME/PIA NVizcaya)
