The National Nutrition Council (NNC) Mimaropa conducts training on Community Radio Broadcasting for Radio Station Personnel of the Nutriskwela Community Radio Network Program at Madison 101 Hotel, Quezon City on November 21-25, 2022.
The training was attended by station managers and personnel from the four Nutriskwela radio stations in Mimaropa namely, Radyo Kaunlaran in Bansud, Oriental Mindoro; Radyo Kamalindig in Buenavista, Marinduque; Radyo Kasimanwa in Coron, Palawan; and Radyo Kapalayawan in Paluan, Occidental Mindoro.
Mark Gemson Espinosa, Station Manager of DWON 104.7 iFM; Emmanuel Sibayan, Station Manager of DWID Love Radio, Dagupan; and Gene Ace Sapit, Information Officer I from the Philippine Information Agency-MIMAROPA served as resource speakers who helped the participants on developing a program design for the Nutriskwela Community Radio Station; Radio Broadcast Voice and Effective Anchoring and Interviewing Techniques; Writing for Radio and Field Reporting; Rules and Regulation on Radio Broadcast; Digital Media and Social Networking; and Significance of Monitoring and Evaluation of the Community Radio.
The participants also visit the DZXL 558 Manila Station to witness the operation of a commercial radio station.
According to DZXL Manila Station Manager Professor Buddy Oberas and veteran news anchor Roderick Marcelino, this training will help the participants to learn useful techniques and strategies in coming up with good stories for radio broadcast.
The Nutriskwela Community Radio Network Program, which was launched by NNC in 2008 involves setting up of non-profit, non-partisan community radio stations in priority areas with high malnutrition rates and limited access to commercial radio broadcasts which aims to empower communities through dissemination of correct and up-to-date nutrition and health information, as well as educational and developmental information from all relevant sectors of the community, government agencies, and non-government organizations.
