Top Philippine economy contributors, investors recognized by PEZA

PASAY CITY -- The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) awards top-performing economic zone developers and locator companies on its annual Investors’ Recognition Day.

Registered business enterprises (RBEs) were recognized for their continuous significant impact on the country’s investments, exports, and job generation.

PEZA Officer-in-Charge and Director General Tereso O. Panga expressed his gratefulness for the continued trust and confidence of our investors and locators in ecozones all over the country. He touts PEZA for its outstanding performance of its mandate despite the pandemic and the global recession.

“This would not have been possible without the enormous and unrelenting support from our ecozone developers, locators, and investment partners in promoting ecozones nationwide. Because of them, we are able to deliver our services one notch higher,” he added.

This year's keynote speaker is Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Alfredo E. Pascual who conveyed President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s congratulatory message to the awardees.

"To outstanding exporters, employers, community projects, environment performers as well as those who receive the Hall of Fame award, the Billionaire [Award], as well as special awards congratulations on your exceptional performance and your inviable contribution to job generation, socio-economic growth of the country and nation building."

Sec. Pascual took the opportunity to thank PEZA's partner stakeholders for helping the national government for maintaining the vibrant and growing economy of the Philippines.

"We hope that you remain committed partners of the Philippine economic zones, most especially in helping establish these ecozones in the countryside., outside Metropolitan area as cited by the President in his first State of the Nation Address," he added.

The DTI chief discussed the role and aim of the government in growing the economy, "The government's role is to create these rising tides that lift all, an investment climate that encourages competition and stimulates economic activity, benefits that only business but the entire population of this country. It is a crucial role because the favorable and enabling business environment is a prerequisite to economic growth and poverty reduction."

He also expressed support for making the Philippines an investment haven in Asia, "Rest assured that DTI shall continue working alongside PEZA and all its stakeholders toward transforming our country into the best investment destination in the region,"

"Supporting PEZA and the export industry in ecozones is a strategic priority for this administration," he added.

During the event, 50 export-oriented companies are recognized for their contribution to the betterment of PEZA and the Philippine Economy. The awards are divided into the following categories: Galing Pinas! Award, COVID-19 Response Award, Outstanding Exporter, Outstanding Employer, Outstanding Community Projects, Outstanding Environmental Performance, Hall of Fame Award, Billionaires’ Award, and PEZA Golden Achievement Award.
