ILIGAN CITY (PIA)--The Northern Mindanao Consortium for Health Research and Development (NorMinCoHRD) held its 5th Regional Health Research Conference to showcase various researches from students and professionals in different parts of the region.
Bonita Manguilimotan of the Department of Science and Technology-10 said that the conference provides an avenue for researchers to showcase the results and findings of their study focused on health to the public.
“Usa ni sya ka panagtagbo sa nagkalain-laing nga institutions, miyembro sa NorMinCoHRD kung diin ang mga myembro ani gapasiugda sila ug researches o pag-tuon na may kalambigitan sa health,” she said.
[This is a gathering of various institutions, members of NorMinCoHRD where they showcase their research or studies related to health.]
The student category for the Oral Research Paper Presentation and Visual Abstract Poster Competition was held virtually on Nov. 16.
Meanwhile, the Oral Research Paper Presentation, Visual Abstract Poster Competition, and 3-Minute Pitch to Policy Makers for the professional category were held at Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology on Nov. 17.
Some of the research showcased during the Visual Abstract Poster Competition (Professional Category) include PLANTastic Treasures: The Antioxidant, Anti-Inflammatory and Anticancer Potential of Subanen and Mamanwa Traditional Medicinal Plants, "Drugs from the Deep: Mindanao Marine Sponges as Source of Anticancer Drug Leads", and Water Quality of Sawaga River and the Relationship of Socio-Economic and Health Status of its Surrounding Communities.
NorMinCoHRD is one of the regional health research consortia of the country under the Philippine National Health Research System (PNHRS) that provides capacity-building activities to its member institutions and funding for approved health research proposals. (LELA/PIA-10/Lanao del Norte)
