Typhoon victims in Cagayan, Isabela receive cash assistance

BUGUEY, Cagayan (PIA) - - Over 3,600 family beneficiaries from Cagayan and Isabela provinces received cash assistance through the Department of Social Welfare and Development's (DSWD) Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program. 

Senator Imee R. Marcos personally led the distribution of the assistance amounting to P5 million to 1, 600 beneficiaries from Buguey town and P3 million to 1,000 beneficiaries in Allacapan town. 

The senator said each of the identified beneficiaries received P3, 000 cash assistance. The beneficiaries were those heavily affected by typhoons Maymay, Neneng and Obet.

"There will also be assistance for damaged houses, either totally or partially damaged. That is why if your house was damaged during the series of typhoons, you will be receiving another cash assistance for this," she said. 

On the other hand, 1, 000 beneficiaries who were also affected by flooding during typhoon 'Paeng' from five barangays of Santa Maria, Isabela also received AICS cash grant. 

The senator also led the pay-out of P3,700 each of the 800 beneficiaries of the Department of Labor and Employment's Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers in the town.

Marcos also promised to revive her late father's sugarcane plantation project which is one of the livelihoods of the people in the town. 

The senator likewise urged farmers to keep on planting rice and corn to help lower the price of rice in the market. 

She also vowed to give P5 million funds for the LGUs of Isabela province that were affected by the recent flooding due to typhoon Paeng to help farmers recover. (OTB/ PIA Cagayan)
