SAN FERNANDO CITY (PIA) –The Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center (ITRMC) officially declared the winners of its first Golden Sillag Awards for its search for the best and most outstanding and sustainable healthcare programs and practices in the institution.

Five best practices or programs were chosen by the board of judges composed of the members of the Multi-Sectoral Governance Council (MSGC) among the 15 entries from the different departments of ITRMC.

The Human Milk Bank with Milk Analyzer of the Department of Pediatrics won the top spot and received a Php25,000 cash prize.

The Tooth Thousand Program of the Department of Dental Medicine came in second and won Php20,000 and third place was the Bakal Mo Sagot Ko Program of the Department of Orthopedics with a prize of Php15,000.

Furthermore, the I-Powers of the Nursing Division and the PHIC-Z Package of the Finance Division obtained the fourth and fifth rank, respectively and took home Php5,000 each.

Aside from the cash prizes, the winners were also awarded with plaque of recognition during the culminating activity held in the Renaissance Hall of ITRMC on Nov.25.

Entries were judged based on the programs’ or practices’ sustainability, innovativeness, standard compliance, essence, and benefits, as well as whether it is process-defined and value-proven.

Dr. Cherry May Laroco, head of the Quality and Strategy Management Office, said the Golden Sillag Awards is a mechanism conceptualized in December 2021 to conclude the internal year-long best practice sharing in ITRMC and to recognize the best of the best among the practices.

She added, “This is to feature how operating units of the hospital innovate and create new ways of doing things efficiently and effectively to come up with high-impact gains not only for ITRMC but as well as for the entire health care system and the people we serve.”

Further, Medical Center Chief Eduardo Badua thanked the MSGC and other partner stakeholders for the successful conduct of the first-ever Golden Sillag Awards. (JCR/JPD/CGC, PIA Region 1)
