
BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) - - Provincial officials here led the support for the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) in the province.
Governor Carlos Padilla and Vice Governor Jose Gambito led the signing of the Pledge of Commitment and the wearing of orange ribbons during the Flag Raising program yesterday at the provincial capitol.
The yearly 18-Day Campaign to End Violence against Women and Children runs November 25 to December 12.
The United Nations has defined violence against women & children (VAWC) as “any act of gender-based violence that results in, or likely to result in, physical, sexual, or mental harm or suffering to women and children, including threats of such acts, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether occurring in public or private life.
This year’s theme is “United for a VAWC-free Philippines,” pursuant to Memorandum Circular (MC) 2022:04 issued by the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW).
Board Member Eunice Galima-Gambol who spearheaded the activity schools and other government agencies are expected drum – up their own campaigns to raise deeper understanding and awareness of VAWC-related issues.
She said school officials and schoolers are also expected to achieve a sense of empowerment and success in joining campaigns to end VAWC. (MDCT/BME/PIA Nueva Vizcaya)
