'Residents in crisis' get AICS in Neg. Occ.

NEGROS OCCIDENTAL (PIA) –- A total of 1,000 residents of the 4th District of the province received P3,000 each as part of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) – Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS).

Senator Imee Marcos and Negros Occidental vice-governor Jeffrey Ferrer led the distribution rites of the AICS at the Manuel Y. Torres Coliseum in Bago City, where local government units from the district also received P5-million assistance from the Office of Senator Marcos to aid their agriculture sector recover from the impacts of the recent calamities.

“Ayaw nating pumasok sa Paskong tuyo or gutom na pasko. Tulong tulong, in the meantime, ayuda muna.  Konting food packs muna, konting Nutribun muna pero ang tutumbukin natin ang trabaho talaga sa agriculture at sa ibat ibang sector. (We don’t want Christmas to come and people are hungry.  We are giving this aid in the meantime.  Some food packs, nutribun but, we will make sure we give jobs especially on agriculture as well as other sectors,” Marcos said.

Out of 1,000 AICS beneficiaries from the 4th District, 500 were from Bago City, 380 from La Carlota City, 30 each from San Enrique, Pontevedra, Valladolid and Pulupandan.

on board his wheelchair, also queued to get his P3,000 financial assistance which, according to him, will be spent to buy his household essentials like rice and other goods.
