TRECE MARTIRES, Cavite (PIA) – The annual Paru-paro Festival of Dasmariñas city rolled out in the streets with the return of the much-awaited Float Parade competition held at the City of Dasmariñas Arena this November 26.
This year’s festival theme, “Balik Dasmaganda, Dasmasigla at Dasmasaya”, was made evident by the uniqueness and vibrant design of the thirteen beautiful and colourful float entries from SM City Dasmariñas, National College of Science and Technology, Immaculate Conception Academy, De La Salle University – Dasmariñas, PrimeWater Dasmariñas and Dasmariñas Water District, P.A. Properties Hankyu Hanshin, Emilio Aguinaldo College, Globe Telecom Inc., Robinsons Dasmariñas, Unitop Mall Dasmariñas, City Schools Division of Dasmariñas, Meralco, and Vista Mall Dasmariñas.
The city’s men and women garbed in glowing butterfly costumes together with the Mutya ng Pilipinas candidates added an awesome spectacle to the festivities.
Senator Francis Tolentino, Ms. Cory Quirino, and Mayor Jenny Austria-Barzaga also graced the event.
“I would like to thank all those who participated in the Float Competition as well as in other competitions during the Paru-paro Festival. Your participation is my guide to continue this festival which represents the city’s change towards prosperity,” said Mayor Jenny Barzaga.
Together with the audience, this year’s judges for the Float competition were Architects Neil Tavu and Ana Mangalino-Ling, and Ms. Cathy Maglipon who carefully scrutinized and selected the deserving winner.
Bagging first place was the float entry of the Primewater Dasmariñas & Dasmariñas Water District followed by Vistamall Dasmariñas entry in second place, and in third place was the entry from the De La Salle University-Dasmariñas.
