LGU-Balaoan holds Christmas lighting ceremony as symbol of hope

SAN FERNANDO CITY (PIA) —The local government unit (LGU) of Balaoan in La Union conducted the Christmas tree  lighting ceremony in the municipality on December 1.
 
The event dubbed “Aksyon ken Raniag 2022” was the first-ever lighting ceremony of the town.
 
In her message, Mayor Aleli Concepcion emphasized the importance of every resident’s hope in the recovery of the town from the challenges brought by COVID-19 in the past two years.

“Dalawang taong hindi tayo nag-celebrate ng fiesta, so we found it appropriate na pailawin ang Balaoan to give our people glimmers of hope that there is brighter future ahead of us,” said  Concepcion.
 
Mayor Concepcion extended her gratitude to the attendees and residents for their contribution to the town’s success.
 
“This is one of my dreams that become a reality at natutuwa ako na nandito po kayong lahat para saksihan ang pag-shine ng buong munisipalidad,” said Concepcion
 
The LGU lit the holiday decorations, particularly the “belen” (nativity scene), angels, and Christmas lights around the town center.
 
Performers, including the teaching force from Castor Z Concepcion Memorial National High school, drum and lyre corps of Balaoan Central school, among others entertained the crowd.
 
 Further, the local government announced the list of activities in celebration of its annual fiesta. (JCR/AMB/KJCR, PIA La Union)
