DTI launches first OTOP Hub in Batanes

UYUGAN, Batanes (PIA) - - The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in this province launched its first One Town, One Product (OTOP) Hub on December 5, 2022 at Barangay Itbud, Uyugan.

The local products displayed in the OTOP Hub include baskets, ginger and turmeric products, cassava polvoron, seaweed chips, wakay or sweet potato chips, ha-hay chips, artworks, artisan products, sea glass accessories and others.

During the Opening program, Governor Marilou Cayco, Congressman Ciriaco Gato Jr., represented by Ms. Letty Bayaras, and Uyugan Mayor Jonathan Nanud congratulated and thanked DTI Batanes for the OTOP Hub which contributes to the efforts of the province to boost its tourism industry.

The officials also beleive that the OTOP hub will also   strengthen local producers and will give them access to a new marketing venue.

According to Shane Horlina, information officer of DTI Batanes, the OTOP Hub is one of the priority projects of DTI which aims to provide a permanent retail store for local producers to showcase their produce. (OTB/CEB/PIA Batanes )
