CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga(PIA) – The Department of Agriculture (DA) distributes 43,220 bags of certified rice seeds in the province under its Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) Program.
Provincial Rice Program Coordinator Delia Gonzalo said more than 15,000 farmers in the different municipalities are the intended beneficiaries of the subsidy. The list of farmer-beneficiaries was based on DA’s Registry System for Basic Sector on Agriculture (RSBSA).
The city of Tabuk gets the most of the rice subsidy with 30,000 bags, followed by Rizal with 7,100 bags; Pinukpuk – 2,600; Tanudan – 1,500; Balbalan - 800; Lubuagan – 600; Tinglayan – 320 and Pasil – 300.
Farmers get free two bags of certified rice seeds per hectare regardless of size of farming area.
The aid is part of the farming interventions given to rice farmers affected under the Rice Tarriffication Law.
The distribution is in time for the coming dry season cropping. (JDP/LL-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
