PhilHealth pushes 'KonSulta' program registration drive in WV

ILOILO CITY (PIA) -- The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) 6 continuously urges the public to register for its Konsultasyong Sulit at Tama (KonSulta) program.

With this, registered individuals may avail health services including initial and follow-up primary care consultations, health screening and assessment, and access to selected diagnostic services and medicines, among others.

Particularly, KonSulta provides benefits to those who would be apt to avail health professional services such as consultations and case management, provision of preventive health services, assistance in accessing services in subcontracted or partner facilities, and referral to specialty and higher level of care.

In terms of diagnostic services, a total of 13 laboratory tests based on doctor’s prescriptions are also covered by the program, namely, CBC with platelet count, urinalysis, fecalysis, sputum microscopy, fecal occult blood, pap

smear, lipid profile, fasting blood sugar, oral glucose tolerance test, ECG, chest x-ray, creatinine, and HbA1c test.

KonSulta also encompasses the provision of doctor-prescribed drugs and medicines such as antimicrobial, fluid and electrolytes, anti-asthma, antipyretics, anti-dyslipidemia, anti-diabetic, anti-hypertensive, anti-thrombotics, and antihistamine as remedy to common conditions.

According to Dr. Amalia J. Fernandez, Medical Specialist III of PhilHealth 6 during the Media Forum and Pasasalamat held here on Dec. 9, every Filipino shall be granted immediate eligibility and access to holistic healthcare services including preventive, promotive, curative, rehabilitative, and palliative care without causing negative financial implications, as stipulated under the Universal Health Care (UHC) law.

The program likewise aims to prioritize the needs of the population who cannot afford the said services.

PhilHealth advises that everyone may register to a facility by utilizing the online PhilHealth Member Portal by means of self-registration or through assisted registration by the employers, social workers of any PhilHealth KonSulta providers, local government units, Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs, PhilHealth Local Health Insurance Offices and Customer Assistance, Relations, and Empowerment (P-CARES) staff.

To date, there are already 110 accredited KonSulta providers across the region, surpassing the 100 facilities targeted by PhilHealth for accreditation this year. (JBG/AGP/PIA 6)
